Portland | Winter 2018

I visited Portland for the first time in February this year and it was really cool!

This trip was to celebrate a good friend's 25th birthday. He wanted to do lots of activities and eat lots of food since it was his first trip as well.

I was honestly very nervous about the weather in Portland since we were visiting in winter, but we got extremely lucky and saw sunshine most of our trip.

There were 10 of us total in the group and we managed to get done most of the activities the birthday boy wanted.

Okay well now that I've given you the basic rundown of the trip I'm going to now go into the fun details of what we did, where we ate and where we stayed.

Living Quarters

Since there was such a large group of us traveling together we decided a hotel would not be the most cost-effective decision. We also wanted to stay closer to Downtown Portland and not in a rental home further away.

Using VRBO a friend was able to find two condos in the Pearl District that fit all of us comfortably.

Fooooood

Here is a list of all places we consumed meals and drinks.

  • Please, Louise - a cool trendy pizza spot. I ordered the Margherita pizza.
  • Blue Star Donuts
  • Besaw's - I ordered Rey-Rey's Breakfast Burrito if you love queso you will love this burrito!
  • Food carts on 5th Ave. - I got a meatball sandwich from a food cart that also sold Philly cheesesteaks and other hot sandwiches.
  • Portland City Grill - For drinks and a view of the city.
  • Portland Burger - Nothing fancy or amazing about this place we just needed to find a place with no wait to get food
  • Radio Room - A chill and relaxing spot to get our last drinks of the evening.
  • Voodoo Doughnut
  • Screen Door - Sooo good for Sunday Brunch just know you will be waiting for at least 1.5hrs. The food is so worth it. I ordered the Picadillo Scramble.
  • Cascade Brewing Barrel House - cool place for beer and cider tastings.

Activities

Here is a list of everything we did while in Portland.

  • Holocene - a chill venue spot that was having a 90's night when we went so great vibes the whole night.
  • Portland Art Museum - There were a lot of great exhibits at the museum when we went. I loved the Laika exhibit, and the Common Ground exhibit was extremely moving.
  • Powell's Bookstore - "World's Largest Independent Bookstore" you have to stop by this bookstore even if you don't like to read.
  • Pips & Bounce -  If you want to play a few games of ping pong you gotta check out this spot.

Portland is a cool and interesting artsy city and I definitely can't wait to come back...maybe in the summer.
