Recipe | Chicken Wings

Cookware

  • Skillet

  • Tongs

  • Sheet pan

  • Drying rack

  • Paper towels

  • Mixing bowl

  • Shallow bowl or dish

Ingredients

  • Canola oil

  • ½ cup soy sauce

  • ½ cup sugar

  • 1 tsp chili powder

  • ¼ tsp Japanese chili pepper seasoning (shichimi)

  • 1 garlic, grated

  • 1 cup of flour

  • 1 tbs of salt

Directions

1. Make the Sauce

  • Grate the garlic into a mixing bowl.

  • Combine the following ingredients into the mixing bowl: soy sauce, sugar, chili powder, and Japanese chili pepper seasoning.

2. Cut the chicken wings in half

  • I usually buy the party pack of chicken wings from Safeway, but if they don’t have them in stock I buy the frozen plain chicken wings.

  • When cutting the chicken wings be sure to cut between the joints so you have one drumette and one wing piece.

3. Salt and flour wings

  • In a shallow bowl or dish put flour and salt and mix.

  • Then place  the wings on each side  in the salt and flour mixture.

4. Add canola oil to the skillet and heat oil

5. Fry the wings until they are golden brown

  • Fry the wings for about 10 minutes on each side or once the juices in the wings run clear.

6. let the wings dry a little bit on the rack and then dip them into the sauce mixture.

  • Dip wings into sauce and be sure they are coated evenly.
